hand prop   a prop that can be easily handled Ex: books, chalk, dishes, baseball bats. In pantomime, hand props are usually imaginary.

monologue, solo scene   a scene for one actor, who speaks his or her thoughts aloud or talks to an imaginary character or directly to the audience

improvisation (improv)   a scene performed with little or no rehearsal, it usually includes dialogue

gesture   a movement usually of the arm, that helps to express an idea or feeling

exposition   information given through dialogue during a scene that explains events leading up to the action

duet scene   a scene for two people

downstage   a movement or area toward the audience

dialogue   spoken words on stage

cue   a signal to begin action or dialogue

character, role   the imaginary person, thing , or animal the actor pretends to be on stage

full front   actor facing the audience

profile right or left   actor turns so the audience can see only half his/her face

one quarter right or left   "cheating out", actor is neither full front nor profile

full back   actor's back is to the audience
