Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.
        Help!

Term
Definition
Energy   the ability to do work or change
🗑
Potential Energy   stored energy
🗑
Kinetic Energy   energy in motion
🗑
Radiant Energy   Light energy stored in particles called photons that move as a wave.
🗑
Sound Energy   energy produced by the vibration of an object. It moves as a wave.
🗑
Chemical Energy   energy stored in molecules that can be released by a chemical reaction. It is stored in food, gasoline, and other fossil fuels.
🗑
Electrical Energy   energy stored in the electrons of atoms and released when the electrons move.
🗑
Thermal Energy   heat energy stored in an object, as the object's temperature, that can be released as heat.
🗑
Nuclear Energy   energy stored in the atoms of all things, released by a nuclear reaction (splitting atoms in fusion or fission).
🗑
Mechanical Energy   kinetic energy of objects in motion or the potential energy stored in an object (gravitational energy).
🗑
Wave   energy that travels from one location to another.
🗑
Wavelength   the distance between 2 crests, or 2 high points on a wave.
🗑
Wave speed   the distance travelled through motion per unit of time.
🗑
Frequency   how often the waves occur or the number of times a crest or trough passes through a given point in a certain time.
🗑
Amplitude   the intensity of the wave or the height of the wave, measured from the center of the wave to its highest point (crest) or the lowest point (trough).
🗑
Mechanical wave   waves that MUST travel through a medium (solid, liquid, gas).
🗑
Electromagnetic wave   waves that DO NOT need a medium (solid, liquid, gas) to travel. These waves can travel in space.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
