Bias   Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

Random Sample   A subset of the population selected without bias in order to make inferences about the entire population.

Simulation   An experiment or model used to test the outcomes of an event.

Mean   Average: Add all values and divide by the number of values.

Median   Middle: Put numbers in order from least to greatest. Mark off high and low values until you reach the middle. If there are 2 middles, add them and divide by 2.

Mode   Most: Put numbers in order from least to greatest. Find the number that appears the most. There may be more than one mode, or there may be no mode.

Range   Difference: Put numbers in order from least to greatest. Subtract the lowest number from the highest number.

Mean Absolute Deviation   The average of the distances of each value from the mean of the data set.

Calculating Mean Absolute Deviation   Find the mean of all values. Find the distance of each value from that mean. Find the mean of those differences.
