Positioning   Proper positioning is important for stability when sitting, lying or standing. Can also isolate specific muscles during exercise.

Balance   Depends on base of support, centre of mass, line of gravity

Base of Support   Region bounded by the body parts in contact with a supporting surface.

Centre of Mass   Imaginary point in the body where all weight or mass seems to be centred. Usually located within the pelvic region in the anatomical position.

Line of Gravity   Imaginary vertical line passing through the centre of mass and the supporting surface.

Maintain Stability   Line of gravity of the entire body must remain within the base of support. If one segment moves forward another must move back to compensate.
