Definition
Cardiovascular Fitness   Ability of the circulatory & respiratory system to carry oxygen to the working muscles and elimate waste products
Muscular Strength   Maximum tension that a muscle can exert in a single contraction. Muscle specific. Exercises should include a variety of strength exercises to ensure a good balance of muscular development
Muscular Endurance   Ability to sustain muscle contraction over a period of time. Specific to muscle group and is a very important component of functional fitness
Flexibilty   Full range of movement at a joint or a series of joints. Greater the range of motion, the greater the flexibility of the joint. Most joints have anterior/posterior flexibility, medial/lateral flexibility or circular or rotational flexibility.
Body Composition   Proportion of fat mass and fat free mass or lean body tissue on the body. Fat mass is usually measured as a percentage of body weight.
To effect a change in compostion you must   Reduce body fat through cardiovascular exercise. Increase lean body mass through resistance training. Ensure proper nutrition.
