| What is the difference between mechanical weathering and chemical weathering? | Mechanical weathering is the physical breakdown of rock and it does not change the rocks composition.Chemical weathering is the breaking down of rock through chemical reactions. This can lead to the change of the rocks composition.

| What are the types of mechanical weathering? | Freezing and thawing is when water gets trapped in rock and this happens over a long period of time causing it to crack. Heating and cooling is when the rock heats up and then cools down causing it to crack. Abrasion is when rock wares away by water etc

| What is humus? | Humus is decayed plant or animal remains that makes soil more fertile.

| What are the types of chemical weathering? | water- can dissolve almost anything over time
oxygen- combines with water which causes rust
carbon dioxide- combines with water (makes carbonic acid) to break down rock
living organisms- some plants give off a weak acid from the roots.

| What does permeable mean? | It means to allow gasses or liquids to pass through a substance.

| what are decompose rs? How do they help soil? | A decompose r is a organism that wears away at organic material. It helps soil by helping humus. Decompose-rs also make space in the ground for air and water to fill in the ground.

| The horizons and bedrock | The A horizon is a dark brown crumbly soil with a lot of humus and minerals. Horizon B is a reddish brown mostly clay little humus and minerals. Horizon C Partially weathered rock. Bedrock is solid rock.
