Term
Definition
Independent Variable   The part of the experiment that is tested. There is only 1 and it is what the scientist changes.
🗑
Dependent Variable   The end result in the experiment. There is only 1 and it is what gets measured.
🗑
Density   The amount of mass per unit volume of an object. It is Mass/Volume. How "stuffed" something is.
🗑
Safety Goggles   Protective eyewear that surrounds the eyes in order to prevent hazardous materials from entering.
🗑
Constant   All the things that are kept the same in an experiment. You should have at least 3 constants.
🗑
Atom   The smallest unit of an element that has all the properties of that element.
🗑
Nucleus   The tiny, very dense, positively charged region in the center of an atom. All the mass, which comes from the protons and neutrons, is here.
🗑
Electron Shell/Cloud   The regions around the nucleus of and atom where the electrons are found.
🗑
Atomic Number   The number of protons in one atom of an element. Determines the identity of an atom.
🗑
Atomic Mass   The average mass of the protons and the neutrons in an element.
🗑
Speed   How fast something is moving. It is equal to Distance/Time.
🗑
Mass   The amount of matter in an object.
🗑
Inertia   An object's resistance to a change in motion. The subject of Newton's First Law of Motion.
🗑
Velocity   The speed of an object in a particular direction.
🗑
Acceleration   A change in velocity (a change in speed or direction of motion).
🗑
Chemical Symbol   This represents the name of an element in the periodic table. It has a capital letter and 0-2 lowercase letters.
🗑
Chemical Formula   This represents the chemical names of substances. It combines chemicals symbols to show the elements in a substance.
🗑
Chemical Equation   This combines chemical formulas to show us which substances react and which substances are formed in a chemical reaction.
🗑
Compound Molecule   This is a substance composed of more than one element that are chemically combined.
🗑
Periodic Table of Elements   A chart of all the elements in the Universe.
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
