---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cell Membrane | One function is to keep the cell and it"s environment separate. ( The cell membrane is the boundary layer between a cell and it's environment.) Another function of a cell membrane is to allow things in or out the cell.
Plant and Animal
🗑
Cytoplasm | Is to suspend strucructures (hold them up) and/or move structures and material throughout the cell by Cytoplasmic Streaming
Plant and Animal
🗑
Nucleus | Is to direct all of the activities of the cell. (it is located in the center of the cell and has Chromosomes on it.) ( don't confuse it with the nucleus of an atom.)
Organelles
🗑
Mitochondrion | Is to break down "cell food" to release energy for use in the cells. (It's nickname is "power house" of the cell. ( Mitochondria is plural.
Organelles
🗑
Endoplasmic Reticulum ( ER ) | Is to be a path to help move things from the nucleusto the edges of the cell. It is like a highway in the cell's. ( through the cytoplasm)
Organelles
🗑
Ribosome | Is to make proteins. ( It is found in the ER or floating in the cytoplasm)
Organelles
🗑
Golgi Bodies | Is to package proteins and other things cells make ) and begin the process of moving proteins ( and other thing cells make ) out of the cell.
Organelles
🗑
Vacuole | Is to store thing in the cell. ( they are like sacs that different stuff is packaged into. ) Vacuoles are made by the Golgi Bodies.
Organelles
🗑
Lysosome | Is to " digest " waste and worn out cell parts. ( The digested bits are used to make new things in the cell. Lysosomes are recyclers.)
Organelles
🗑
Cell Wall | ( The Cell wallis just outside of the cell membrane.) It's function is to protect and support the cell.
Plant
🗑
Chloroplast | Is to change light energy into chemical energy, in the form of sugar or starch. Chloroplasts always have a color and most of them are green.
Organelles
🗑
Cytoskeleton | Contains the cytoskeleton, solid and hollow tubes that helps cells keep thier shape, change thier shape, or, in some cases move.
Animal

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
