🗑
What are the principles of design?   Balance, Rhythm, Proportion, Emphasis, Unity.
🗑
What is the principle repetition?   When a design is copied or repeated.
🗑
How does texture affect color?   *Smooth surfaces reflect more light than rough surfaces. (light reflection)
🗑
What do curved lines suggest?   Gracefulness.
🗑
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance?   In horizontal...left & right parts are equal. In vertical...top & bottom parts are equal. In radial...the elements radiate from the outside.
🗑
What do diagonal lines suggest?   Movement & excitement.
🗑
What is space?   The area provided for a particular purpose.
🗑
What are the four types of rhythm?   1) Gradation 2) Radiation 3) Repetition 4) Continuous Line
🗑
What is asymmetrical balance? Example?   Parts of the design are not identical but are equal in visual. EX- There may be 2 picture frames on each side of design/picture but they do not have to be exactly the same as each other (in size or shape)
🗑
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines?   Vertical Lines lead the eye up, and Horizontal Lines lead the eye from left to right.
🗑
What is the golden mean?   3 to 5 ratio.
🗑
What is the difference between shape and form?   Shape is a flat image. Form is the outlines of a three dimensional object.

What are the five types of balance?   1) Asymmetrical 2) Symmetrical 3) Horizontal 4) Vertical 5) Radial
🗑
What does unity or harmony mean?   All elements
🗑
What are the two things texture involves?   How a surface feels & how it appears to the touch
🗑
What are the four types of line?   1) Vertical 2) Horizontal 3) Diagonal 4) Curved
🗑
What is proportion?   How the design is visually divided
🗑
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest?   Radial
🗑
What is symmetrical balance? Example?   Parts of the design are exactly alike. (EX- Each side is the same)
🗑
What is emphasis? What is another name for it?   One object or item stands out. Focal Point.
🗑
What happens when you use a continuous line?   It creates a line for the eyes to follow.
🗑
What is another name for symmetrical balance?   Formal Balance
🗑
What is another name for asymmetrical balance?   Informal Balance
🗑
