Nonsterile product compounding

Aliquot: | Amount removed from the total and given to the patient after diluting a product when the amount of an ingredient is less than the LWQ for a Class III balance. |
Beyond-use date: | Expiration date in which a compounded sterile preparation may not be stored or transported. |
Overfill: | Technique used in compounding in which products are compounded for more than the originally prescribed amount (for example, 10% more) to compensate for loss due to compounding. |
Surface tension: | A physical property of a liquid that causes it to cling to the sides of a container and results in the surface of the liquid to appear higher on the sides than in the middle. |
Trituration: | Grinding powders to reduce particle size or dilution of medication powder by mixing with inert powder. |
