Which organs comprise the lymphatic sysstem? The spleen, the thymus, lymph nodes, and tonsils
What is lymph? A creamy fluid containing lymphocytes, proteins, and fats that passes through the lymph nodes
What is a lymphocyte? A type of white blood cell that releases antibodies
What is an antibody? A protein produced by the immune system that targets a specific antigen to inhibit it from invading the body cells and tissues
What is the difference between active immunity and passive immunity? Active immunity results from the body producing antibodies in response to the presence of an antigen Passive immunity comes from receiving the antibodies of another person
What is Grave's disease? An autoimmune disorder resulting in overstimulation of the thyroid gland.
What is lymphona? Cancer in the lymph nodes that results in decreased immunity and increased susceptibility to infection.
What is the difference between a bactericidal medication and a bacteriostatic medication. Bactericidal medications kill bacteria, while bacteriostatic medications inhibit the growth of bacteria.
Which antibiotic classes inhibit bacterial cell wall formation? Penicillin, carbapenem, cephalosporin, and Monobactam
Which antibiotic classes inhibit bacterial protein synthesis? Aminoglycoside, Macrolide, tetracycline
