Why is it important to write the abbreviation NKDA on a prescription? the abbreviation means "no know drug allergies" and confirms that the pharmacy technician has asked the patient about allergies.
Why is it important to ask patients about other medications they are currently taking, including the over-the-counter (OTC) medications and supplements? The information enables the pharmacist to check the drug interaction.
What questions should the pharmacy technician ask a patient to prevent delays in prescription data entry? Has your insurance coverage changed since the last visit to the pharmacy?
