Color Terms

What is hue? color by itself with nothing added to it
What does intensity mean? the brightness or dullness of a color
What are the three components of the color wheel? secondary, primary, and tertiary
what are the primary colors? red, yellow, and blue
What are the secondary colors? orange, green, and violet
What are the tertiary colors? red-violet, red-orange, yellow-green, yellow-orange, blue-violet, and blue-green
what does tint mean? a value lighter than that on the color wheel
What does shade mean? a value darker than that on the color wheel
what color is added to create a tint? white
What color is added to create a shade? black
What does a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme mean? different tints and shades of one color
What does a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme mean? colors across from each other on the color wheel
what does a Analogous Harmony/Scheme mean? three or more colors right next to each other on the color wheel
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme? one
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme? two
How many colors fro the color wheel are represented in an Analogous Harmony/Scheme? three or more
What colors are considered warm colors? orange, yellow-orange, yellow, red, red-orange, red-violet
What colors are considered cool colors? blue, blue-green, green, violet, blue-violet, yellow-green
What colors are considered neutral colors? brown, black, white, gray, tan
