Intro Color Terms
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Hue | The name given to a color. |
Color Wheel | Shows how colors are related to each other. |
Intensity | The brightness or dullness of a color. |
Primary Colors | The three basic colors that are used to create all of the other colors. Includes the colors red, blue, and yellow. |
Secondary Colors | The three colors that are achieved from equal parts of two primary colors. |
Red and Blue | Violet |
Blue and Yellow | Green |
Yellow and Red | Orange |
Intermediate or Tertiary Colors | When you mix equal parts of one primary and one secondary. |
Red and Violet | Red-Violet |
Blue and Violet | Blue-Violet |
Blue and Green | Blue-Green |
Yellow and Green | Yellow-Green |
Yellow and Orange | Yellow-Orange |
Red and Orange | Red-Orange |
Tint | A value lighter than that on the color wheel. Add white |
Shade | A value darker than that on the color wheel. Add black |
Monochromatic | One hue with different tints and shades. |
Complimentary | 2 colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel. |
Analogous | 3 or more colors next to each other on the color wheel. |
Warm Colors | Orange, red, yellow |
Neutral Colors | Tans, browns, whites |
Cool Colors | Blue, green, possibly violet |
Four Main Hair Colors | Blond, red, brunette, black |
Main Eye Colors | Black, blue-violet, blue, green, gray, hazel, brown |
