Color Terms

How do you percieve white? | When all the wavelengths are reflected back to your eye. |
How do you percieve black? | When no light is reflected to your eye. |
What is hue? | Color itself |
What are the primary colors? | Red, Blue, and Yellow |
What are the secondary colors? | Violet, Green, and Orange |
What are the tertiary colors? | Red-violet, Blue-violet, Blue-green, Yellow-green, Yellow- orange, Red- orange |
What is a saturated color? | Colors that have no white or black in them. |
What three groups make up the color wheel? | Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. |
What is a tint? | A saturated color that is mixed with pure white color. |
What is a shade? | A saturated color that is mixed with pure black color. |
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? | Red, Orange, and Yellow. |
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? | Blue, Green, and Violet. |
What are the five neutral colors? | Black, Grey, White, Brown, and Tan. |
What are the six types of color harmonies? | Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Split Complementary, and Neutral. |
What is a monochromatic color harmony? | Shades of only one color. Ex- Navy Blue, Bright Blue, and Baby Blue. |
What is an analougus color harmony? | Uses three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Ex- red, Red-Violet, and Violet. |
What is a complementary color harmony? | Two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel. |
What is a triadic color harmony? | Three colors that are located within equal distance of each other. |
What is a split complementary scheme? | Created by using any color and the two colors located next to that colors complement. Ex- Yellow, Red-Violet, Blue-Violet. |
What is a neutral color scheme? | Any combination of Blacks, Greys, Whites, Browns, and Tans |
