Geometric Terms
Terms | Definition |

Point | A location in space. |
Line | A geometric figure mabe up of infinitely many points. |
Ray | A part of a line that starts at a point, the end point, and continues in one directiopn. |
Midpoint | The point that divides a line segment into two congruent parts. |
Bisector | A that intersects a line segement at its midpoint. |
Perpendicular | Two lines segments, rays, or planes that intersect to form right angles. |
Transformation | A change made to the size or position of a figure. |
Translation | Transformation that slides each point of a figure thesame distance in thesame direction. |
Reflection | A transformation that flips a figure over a line. |
Rotation | A transformation in which every point moves along a circular path around a fixed point called the center of rotation. |

quadrilateral | plane shape with four straight lines |
parallelogram | trapezium (quadrilateral) with opposite sides parallel |
rectangle | quadrilateral with opposite sides equal & parallel; adjacent sides perpendicular |
rhombus | equal sizes; opposite sides parallel (quadrilateral) |
deltoid | quad. with 2 pair of adjacent, equal sides |
square | rectangle with 4 equal sides |
rhombi | plural of rhombus |
trapezoid | American term for trapezium |
