commutative property | In addition and multiplication, numbers may be added or multiplied together in any order. |
Identity property of Addition | A number which can be added to other numbers without changing their value, for example, zero. The sum of zero and a number is the number is the number itself. |
Identity property of Multiplication | A number which multiplies other numbers without changing their value, for example, one. |
Inverse property of Addition | Adding the opposite. 2+ -2. |
Inverse property of Multiplication | Multiplying the opposite. 2x 1/2 |
Associative property | In addition and multiplication, no matter how the numbers are grouped, the answer will always be the same. |
Distributive property | Combines the operations of addition and multiplication. |
