origin the point (0,0) in a coordinate system where the x-axis and the y-axis intersect
quadrant one of the four parts that make up the coordinate system
vertical a line that runs up and down
x-axis the horizontal number line of a coordinate plane
y-axis the vertical number line of a coordinate plane
zero pair the results when one positive is paired with one negative
