QuestionAnswer
Metaphor a comparison between two unrelated objects or ideas
Imagery language that appeals to the senses
Third Person Omniscient a point of view where the narrator is all-knowing
Third Person Limited a point of view where the narrator is removed from the story but spotlights one or more characters.
Foreshadowing literary technique where the author drops clues to alert readers to something important that will occur later in the story.
Allegory a story where the characters and events are symbolic of something else. It is meant to be taken figuratively.
Pun A humorous technique that relies on the double meaning of words
Plain Folks A propaganda technique where the propagandist attempts to convince us that his or her ideas are just like everyone elses.
Bandwagon A propaganda technique that appeals to our need to join and belong, to be part of a group
Glittering Generalities A propaganda technique that uses "virtue words"
Ethos An appeal that deals with the credibility of the speaker
Pathos An emotional appeal to the audience
