What is demography? the statistical study of human populations
What is death rate? The number of people that die each year
What is population density? The average number of people living in an area.
What is migration? process of moving from one place to another
What is birthrate? Number of people born each year
What are emigrants? people who leave their country to live in another
What are immigrants? People who come to a new country to live
What is a push factor? a factor that causes people to leave a location
What is a pull factor? a factor that attracts people to a new location
What are refugees? people who are forced to leave and cannot return to their homes
What is culture? all the features of a people's way of life
What is a culture region? An area in which many people have shared culture traits
What are culture traits? Activities and behaviors people take part in
What is an ethnic group? a social group or category of the population that, in a larger society, is set apart and bound together by common ties of race, language, nationality, or culture.
What are universlizing religions? religious, theological, and philosophical concepts with universal application or applicability
What are ethnic religions? A religion with a relatively concentrated spatial distribution whose principles are likely to be based on the physical characteristics of the particular location in which its adherents are concentrated
What are animist religions? Animism encompasses the beliefs that there is no separation between the spiritual and physical (or material) world, and souls or spirits exist, not only in humans, but also in all other animals, plants, rocks, geographic features such as mountains or rive
What is globalization? global relationships of culture, people, and economic activity
What are missionaries? a member of a religious group sent into an area to do evangelism or ministries of service,
What is polytheism? the belief of multiple deities
What is monotheism? he belief in one singular god
What is traditionalism? the doctrine that all knowledge originates in divine revelation and is perpetuated by tradition
What is lingua franca? a language systematically used to make communication possible between people not sharing a mother tongue
What is fundamentalism? the demand for a strict adherence to specific theological doctrines
What is acculturation? the process of cultural and psychological change that results following meeting between cultures
What are mosques? a place of worship for followers of Islam
What is hajj? the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
What is innovation? the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are accepted by markets, governments, and society
What is diffusion? the rate new ideas and technology spread through cultures
