QuestionAnswer
The cell is divided into what three parts? Cell & growth activity, replication on DNA (Mitosis), & division of cytoplasm (cytokinesis).
What is Mitosis? Divides the replicated DNA equaly and precisely, generating daughter cells which are exact gnetic copies of parent cell.
What is meiosis? Produces daughter nuclei with half of the number of chromosomes in the parent nucleus.
The number of chromosome sets in a cell or species are called what? Ploidy
If a cell has only one copy of chromosome it is-- Haploid or n
If a cell has three or more copies of chromosome it is -- Polyploid
If a cell has two copies of chromosome it is-- diploid or 2n
The two chromosome pairs in diploid cell are called-- Homologous chromosomes
Before a cell divides, duplication of each chromosome produces two identical copies called-- sister chromatids
The equal distrubrition of the chromosomes into each of the daughter nuclei is called-- Chromosome segregation
What are the three main events in a cell called? Interphase, Mitosis, and Cytokinesis.
Interphase is divided into what three parts? G1 phase- Cell grows S phase- DNA replicates G2 phase- Cell growth continues
Mitosis is broken down into what five parts? Prophase, Prometaphase, Metaphase, Anaphase, & Telophase
Cytokinesis produces what? Two daughter cells
In animal cells, cytokinesis occurs by forming what? Furrow
In plant cells, cytokinesis occurs by forming what? A cell plate
When is mitotic cell cycle used? Growth of multicellular eukaryotes from a fertilized egg to fully developed adults

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
