Venus Second planet from the sun similar to Earth in mass and size has a thick atmosphere and a surface with craters fault like cracks and volcanoes
Mars 4th planet from the sun has polar ice caps a thin atmosphere and a reddish appearance caused by iron oxide in weathered rocks and soil
Moon A natural satellite of a planet that is held in its orbit around the planet by the planets gracitational pull
Jupiter Largest and 5th planet from the sun contains more mass than all other planets combined has continuous storms of high pressure gas and an atmosphere mostly of hydrogen and helium
Saturn 2nd largest planet and 6th planet from the sun has a complex ring system at least 31 moons and a think atmosphere made from mostly hydrogen and helium
Great Red Spot Giant high pressure storm in Jupiters atmosphere
Uranus 7th planet from the sun is large and gaseous has a distint bluish green color and rotates on an axis nearly parallet to the plane of its orbit
Neptune Usually the eight planet from the sun is large and gaseous has rings that vary in thickness and is bluish green in color
Pluto Considered to be the 9th planet from the sun has a solid icy rock surface and a single moon
Crater A nearly circular depression in a planet moon or asteroid that formed when an object from space hit its surface
Earth 3rd planet from the sun has an atmosphere that projects life and surface temperatures that allow water to exist as a solid liquid and gas
Comet Space object made of dust and rock particles mixed with frozen water methan and ammonia that forms a bright coma as it approaches the sun
Meteorite A meteoroid that strikes the surgace of a moon or a planet
Meteor A meteoroid that burns up in Earths atmospher
Asteroid A piece of rock similar to the material that formed into the planets
