Why were the farmers in trouble in teh 1920s? They had overproduced and now were in severe debt. Also, they had bought farm tools on credit. Had to pay back loans
Did labor unions increase or decrease? decreased- because of open shops (jobs given to non-union members) and welfare capitalism
What is welfare capitalism? companies gave improved benefits and higher wages so people would not join unions

Who was Charles Lindbergh? 1st to fly non-stop from NY to Paris in 1927. Loved by modernists (adventurer) and fundamentalists (old fashioned values/religious)
Who were 2 major fundamentalists of the 1920s? Aimee Semple McPherson (used radio/put on a show) and Billy Sunday (former baseball player)
What is Proestant Fundamentalism? dominated rural areas and took a literal view of the Bible. Believed in creationism (God created universe in 7 days) and they blamed modernists for decline in morals
What are examples of racism/nativism in the 1920s? 1- KKK revival, 5 million members, physical intimidation 2- Johnson-Reed Act 3- Japanese immigrants banned in 1927 4- Sacco and Vanzetti
Who were Sacco and Vanzetti? Italian and Anarchists who were accused of robbery and murder.
