ozone a form of oxygen that has 3 oxygen atoms in each molecule instead of the usual 2.

photochemicial smog a brownish haxe that is a mixture of ozone and other chemicals formed when polluntants react with each other in presence sunlight.
acid rain rain that contains more acid than usual
pressure the force exerted on a surface divided by the total area over which the force is exerted.
air pressure the pressure caused by the weight of a column of air pushing down on a area.
barometer a intstrument used to measure changes in air pressure.
mecury barometer a instrument that measures changes in air pressure consisiting of a glass tube pertially filled with mecury, with its open and resting ina dush of mecury.
aneroid baromjter a instrument that measure changes in air pressure without using liquid.
altitude elevation above sea level
jet stream bands of high speed winds about 10 klm above earths surface
trososhpere the lowest layer of earths atmosphere
stratosphere the 2nd lowest layer of earths atmosphere
mesosphere the layer of earths atmosphere immediantly above the straosphere
thermosphere the outer most layer of earths atmosphere
ionisphere the lower part of the thermosphere
exosphere the outer layer of the thermosphere
electromagnetic wave waves that can transfer electric and magnetic energy trough the vacum of space.
radiation the direct transfer of energy through space by electromeagnetic waves.
infarred radiation electrmagnectic waves with wavelengths that are longer than visible light but shprter than microwaves.
ultraviolet radiation electromagnetic waves with wavelengths that are shorter than vivsible light but longer than X-rays.
scattering reflection of light in all directions
thermal energy the total energy of motion in the particles of a substance.
conduction the process by which molecules of water vapor in the air become liquid water.
convection the transfer of thermal energy by the movement of a fluid.
wind the horizantal movement of air from an area of high pressure to an area of lower pressure.
anemometer an instrument used to measure wind speed
wind-chill factor a measure of cooling combining temperture and wind speed
local wind winds that blow over short distances
sea breeze the flow of cooler air from over an ocean or lake toward land.
land breeze the flow of air fro land to a body of water
global wind winds that blow steadily from specific directions over lond distances
latitude the distnace in degrees north or sout of the equator.
