Congruent Same size and shape
Similar Same shape but not necessarily the same size
Transformation A movement of a geometric figure
Translation A type of transformations where geometric figures slide horizontally, vertically, or both
Reflection A type of transformation where a geometric figure is flipped over a line of symmetry
Rotation A type of transformation where a geometric figure is turned about a fixed point
Image The end of a transformation
Proportional The relationship between two quantities that have a constant rate or ration
Hypotenuse The side opposite the right angle in a right triangle; it is also the longest side
Leg (of a right triangle) The two side of a right triangle that meet at the right angle
Tessellation The repetitive patterns of polygons that fit together with no gaps and no overlaps
Indirect measurement Finding a measurement by using similar triangles and setting up a proportion
Corresponding sides Proportional sides in similar figures; they share the same location
Corresponding angles Congruent angles is similar figures; they share the same location
Vertex The point where the edges of a two of three dimensional figures meet
Regular polygon A polygon whose sides are all congruent and angles are all congruent
