Ch. 5

Union A union of two sets is the set consisting of those values in either one or both sets.
Compound Sentence A sentence in which two clauses are connected by the word and or by the word or.
Solution Set for a System The solution set for a system is the intersection of the solution sets for the individual sentences.
Consistent System A system that has one or more solutions is called a consistent system.
Inconsistent System A system that has no solutions.
Square Matrices Have the same number of rows and columns and they can have inverses.
System-Determinant Theorem A 2 x 2 system has exactly one solution if and only if the determinant of the coefficient matrix is not zero.
Feasible Set / Feasible Region The set of solutions to a system of linear inequalities
