The heart is what type of muscle? Involuntary
In what part of our body does the digestive process BEGIN? Mouth
What is the difference between mechanical and chemical digestion? Mechanical digestion breaks down food through tearing, chewing, churning, and biting. Chemical digestion breaks down food through the use of enzymes and stomach acids.
What structure in the small intestines allow for the maximum absorption of food? Villi
What is the main role of the large intestines? The large intestines facilitate the final absorption of water back into the body, and compress the remaining material to be eliminated.
What are the two types of blood cells in the human body and what are their function? Red blood cells carry oxygen to our body systems. White blood cells fight off diseases.
What is the main artery in our heart? Aorta
What is the main vein in our heart? Vena Cava
