how do you prep your head for driving on ice? get mentally ready to deal with the ice by paying attention to the temp and looking for places where ice will form.

if you lose control coming down the hill, what do you do and why? shift into neutral and apply the brakes gradually because it improves braking control.
if you cant regain control by shifting to neutral and gradually applying the brakes, what do you do? look for a soft site to the right side of the road.
how do you stay in control on an icy curve? reduce speed.
define rear-wheel skid and causes. when the back tires lose grip and the cars rear end tends to swing out on a turn; usually caused by entering a turn too fast.
define front-wheel skid and causes. when the front tires lose grip and the car tends to continue in a straight line; usually caused by excessive speed, abrupt braking, or underinflated front tires.
what 3 factors help prevent skids on icy turns? -controlled speed. -smooth steering. -smooth braking.
Your wheels have lost grip on the road, what do you do? gradually release the pressure from the pedal, smoothly steer in the direction you want the car to go, look at where you want to go and your hands will follow your eyes.
what is essential in recovering from a skid? smooth steering.
fishtailing-how do you handle the problem? shift into neutral to take pwoer away from the drive wheels and to allow all four wheels to rotate at an equal rate. then squeeze the brake gradually.
what is your primary duty at the crash if not involved in the crash? maintain the situation safely until the authorities arrive.
don't block traffic, true or false? explain true, pull over to the side of the road and find a place where its safe to park.
explain "call for help" call the authorities and give any facts you know
how do you check the victim? keep them calm, warm and comfortable until the authorities arrive unless qualified to apply first aid.
