What are earthquakes? Earthquakes are the sudden movement of the earth's surface.
What are Lithospheric Plates? The outer shell of Earth that extends to a depth of 100km.
What are Plate Tectonics? The theory of formation and movement of the plates that cover up the surface of the earth.
What are Converging Boundaries? Convergent Boundaries form when 2 crustal Lithospheric Plates come together.
What are Diverging Boundaries? Divergent Boundaries form when 2 crustal Lithospheric Plates move apart.
What is Seafloor Spreading? States that the youngest rocks of the ocean floor of diverging boundaries moving apart.
What is a Pangaea? A Pangaea is a super-continent that formed from about 200 to 100 million years ago.
What is the Richter Scale? A Richter Scale is a scale used to indicate the strength of an earthquake.
What is a Seismograph? A Seismograph is used to measure the strength of an earthquake.
What is the point at ground level directly above the focus? The Epicenter is the point at ground level directly above the focus.
What is it called when 1 plate is pushed under another plate as they collide? When 1 plate is pushed under another plate as they collide that is called Subduction.
What type of plate is thicker? Oceanic or Continental? The Continental plate is thicker?
Who first proposed the theory of continental drift? Wegner was the first to propose the theory of the continental drift.
A new Crust is created from? A new crust is created from magma from the mantle.
What can form when two continental plates fold? Fold Mountains form when two continental plates fold.
What can a convergent boundary form? Acid Lava Volcanoes can form.
What is the structure of the earth most like? The structure of the earth is most like an apple.
How are plates moved? Plates are moved by convection currents in the mantle.
What is the hottest part of the Earth's Structure? The Core is the hottest part of the Earth's Structure.
Where is the mantle found? The mantle is found between the crust and the core.
