The Church and Ministry

What is the goal of ministry? Unity
Unity in Maturity Maturing is shown through humility in relationships, by the teaching of sound doctrine, and by the development of a sense of interdependence.
Primary task of church leader To equip the saints for the work of ministry.

Difference between duty and gift The intensity and effectiveness with which a certain action is carried out.
3 Ways to minister 1. Full-time ministry (supported by the church) 2. Christian professionals (serving God through work) 3. Tentmakers (people who work to be able to minister)
4 guidelines to determine God's will 1. The Word of God 2. Circumstances 3. Counsel of mature believers 4. Voice of the Holy Spirit
3 Criteria to help us hear God's voice about a specific ministry 1. A sense of "oughtness" (I need to) 2. The calling of God is to accomplish something we can't do on our own (w/o God) 3. The call of God gives deep satisfaction/joy.
1 Corinthians 12:12 The Body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one Body. So it is with Christ.
The Church is a lay movement It is the responsibility of all members to participate in ministry & in all areas of our life; it is not only done by Church leaders or only in the church blgd.
Ministry is Serving. Both the gathered and scattered so all will see and hear the Good News of the Gospel.
Ministry flows from being From being to doing. I have redeemed through J.C., adopted into His family. J.C. is my foundation and by His grace and the gifts of the H.S., I will profess the Bible and show God's love through ministry.
