When would you acquire it? Whenever there is dirt near the wound
When did we have lots of manifestations of Gas Gangrene? (3 events) During wartimes; improper abortions; diabetes
Important virulence? Alpha and beta (necrotizing) toxins
Treatment? Debridement, oxygen
Prevention? Clean the freaking wounds
What is another bacteria associated with wounds? Which type of wounds specificially? Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with BURNs
Gram stain, growth, Gram (-) rod in soil; AEROBE
What can it cause? Flouresces burns
How would you acquire it? Nosocomial usually
Viruence factor? Exotoxin A and Biofilm in CF patients

What bacteria causes Ophthalmia neonatorum? Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Who does it target AND how is it acquired? Babies-->they get it when getting out of birth canal
How would you prevent and treat it? Give Ab at birth
What did we used to give to treat it? silver nitrate
Inclusion conjuctivitis is caused by? Chalmydia trachomatis
How can you acuire it? Babies during birth, and us in swimming pools
Trachoma is due to? Chlamydia trachomatis
Steps of infection: Trichiasis (eyelashes turn inward and scar cornea)-->inflmamation-->Panus forms, gets into cornea-->blindness
How is it transmitted? Flies, hand contact
Pinkeye is caused by? Strep pnemonia, H. inf, S. Aureus, Pseudomonas AND VIRAL
What is associated with this disease? Lots of pus forms
How is this different in virus? Name another Viral infection of the eye: No pus forms;;herpes keratin
