Associative Property of Addition | (a + b) + c = a + (b + c) |

Associative Property of Multiplication | (ab)c = a(bc) |

Distributive Property | 4(x + 2) = 4x + 8 and (3 – x)2 = 6 – 2x |

Substitution Property | if x = 10 then 5x = 50 |

Identity Property of Addition | 5 + 0 = 5 |

Identity Property of Multiplication | 7(1) = 7 |

Inverse Property of Addition | 6 + (-6) = 0 |

Inverse Property of Multiplication | 3(1/3) = 1 |

Symmetric Property | if a = b then b = a |

Addition and Multiplication Property of Equality | if a = b then a + 5 = b + 5 |

Addition and Multiplication Property of Inequality | if a < b then 3a < 3b |

Zero Product Property | If ab = 0 then a = 0 or b = 0 and (x-5)(x+2)=0 then x = 5 or x = -2 |

Estimate | to calculate approximately |

Volume | the region of space a three-dimensional object takes up |

Surface Area | the sum of the areas of each of the sides of a three-dimensional object |

Percent | number divided by the total, (times 100) move the decimal two places to the right |

Coefficient of x | the slope when an equation is in slope-intercept form |

Constant | the y-intercept when an equation is in slope-intercept form |

Linear Inequality | has many solution, has no exponents |

x-intercept | where the y coordinate equals 0, where the graph crosses the x axis |

y-intercept | where the x coordinate equals 0, where the graph crosses the y axis |

Solutions | points that satisfy an equation or inequality |

Points on the Line | solutions for the equation |

Pythagorean Theorem | a2 + b2 = c2 |

Perimeter | the measure of the outside boundaries of a two-dimensional shape |

Scale Factor | the ratio of corresponding sides of similar figures |

Parallel Lines | lines that have the same slope |

Perpendicular Lines | lines that have a negative reciprocal slope |

Slope-Intercept Form | y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept |

Probability | favorable over total |

Odds | favorable over unfavorable |

Outliers | numbers that are out of range of the group |

Measures of Central Tendency | mean, mode and median |

Line of Best Fit | a line given from a scatter plot that estimates the equation |

Prediction | to make an educated guess about a future value |

Range | from data set, the difference of the highest number and the lowest number |
