QuestionAnswer
Core The inner most part of the earth made entirely out of iron.
Magma Molten rock.
Crust The outer most part of the earth that has 2 different crusts, the ocianic and continental,
Ocianic crust The crust of the earth that is the seafloor of the ocean.
Continental crust The crust of the earth that is underneath the continents.
Mantle The thickest layer of the earth, consists of magma.
Atmsphere All the gasses in the air.
Hydrosphere All the water on the earth.
Seafloor spreading When the ocianic crust seperates.
Lithosphere The rigid layer of the earth, made of the crust and part of the upper mantle.
Latitude Distance in degrees north or south of the equator.
Longitude Distance in degrees east or west of the prime meridean.
Tectonic plates Plates that move along the mantle.
Subduction The heat that occures when the heat from the core causes changes in the density of the magma.
Equator An imaginary line that wraps the earth in half.
Earthquake Movement of the ground that occures when rocks inside Earth pass their elastic limit and break suddenly.
Convection current Current int the Earth's mantle that transfers heat in Earth's interior when is the driving force for plate tectonics.
Continental drift Wegners hypothesis of when all continents were a single landmass and over time spread apart.
Plate A large section of the Earth's ocianic or continental crust and rigid upper mantle that moves around the asthenosphere.
Density Measurable physical property that can be found by dividing mass by volume.
