Lever A rigid object that uses a pivot point or fulcrum to increase the output force
Work Movement of an object over a distance when a force is applied to the object
Screw An inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder
Effort A force applied to a simple machine to do work
Wheel & Axle A simple machine made of a shaft or axle, inserted through the middle of a wheel so that the wheel rotates on the shaft
Simple machine A device that transfers force to make work easier
Inclined plane A simple machine made of a flat surface with one end higher than the opposite end.
Mechanical advantage The ratio of the output force to the input foce in a simple machine
Pulley A wheel that rotates around a fixed axle and has a rope or chain/cable that wraps around it
Friction A force between 2 objects in contact with each other that opposes motion
Load the resulting force when effort is applied to a simple machine that opposes motion
Wedge an inclined plane that moves
Unbalanced force Force that acts on an object that causes the motion of the object to change
Force A push or pull on an object
Balanced force A force that acts on an object that causes no change in the objects motion
Tugor pressure The pressure or force used by a seed to sprout out of its shell or the ground.
Geotropism The movement of plants to grow towards the sun opposing gravity
