What is change in physical form exposed at earth's surface? Weathering
What are the 2 types of weathering? Mechanical weathering and Chemical weathering
What is Mechanical weathering? It is the physical breakdown of rocks into smaller pieces.
What is Chemical weathering? Rocks broken down chemically.
What is exfoliation? When joints of rocks break into curved sheet and peel away from the underlying rock.
A common kind of mechanical weathering where water freezes and expands the rock. Ice wedging
What type of agents are important to mechanical weathering? Plants and animals
What is abrasion? Collision of rocks with another, breaking and wearing away of rocks
Chemical weathering. Decomposition occurs when chemical reaction takes place between the mineral in rock.
Change in composition of minerals when they reacts chemically with water. Hydrolysis.
Rusting is ________ Oxidation
Water Cycle is? Continuous movement of water from the atmosphere to the earth's surface and back to the atmosphere.
Evaporation and transportation. Is water vapor and plant vapor
The most important process is... Evapotranspiration.
Precipitation is... Third process of which water falls from the cloud as rain, snow, sheet, and hail.
Mature Rivers... Don't have many rapids or waterfalls.
Youthful River River... Have narrow valley and move fast. V-Shaped Valley
Old Rivers are slower then mature rivers and no longer erode
