What is a mountain? High landforms with steep sides.
What is a valley? Area of land between mountains. Rivers flow through many valleys.
What are the plains? Low, flat areas of land.
What is a plateau? Large raised plains.
What is a basin? Natural depression, or low areas of land.
What is a peninsula? Area of land surrounded by water on all sides but one.
What is an isthmus? A piece of land connecting a peninsula to a continent.
What is a cape? Part of the coast which extends into the sea.
What is a gulf? A large area of a sea or ocean partially enclosed by land.
What is an archipelago? A group of islands.
What is a cliff? Steep rock formations in high coastal areas.
What type of landform are the Alps? Mountain range
What type of landform are the Scandinavian Alps? Ancient Massifs
What are the Pyrinees? Mountain range located between Spain and France
Name three islands on the Mediterranean Sea Balearic Islands, Sardinia and Crete
Name three peninsulas on the Mediterranean Sea. Iberian Peninsula, Italian Peninsula and Balcanic Peninsula.
Name an Archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. British Isles.
Where do you find the biggest plains in Europe? Centre and Northern Europe
What is the largest river in Europe? Danube
What is the natural limit between Asia and Europe? The Ural Mountains
What's the difference between a peninsula and an island? The first one is surrounded on all sides but one, the second one is fully surrounded by water.
What is an ocean ridge? Large mountain ranges below the surface of the ocean
What are the ocean trenches? Large, deep depressions in the ocean floor
What is a continental shelve? Plateaus near the coastline
