How do you perceive white? | when all wavelengths are reflected back to your eye |
How do you perceive black? | when no light is reflected to your eye |
What is hue? | a color itself, and each hue has a different way of reflecting light |
What are primary colors? | The three basic colors that are used to create all of the other colors are known as the primary colors. -Red -Blue -Yellow |
What are secondary colors? | The three colors that are achieved from equal parts of two primary colors make up what we call the secondary colors -Violet -Green -Orange |
What are tertiary colors? | When you mix equal parts of one primary and one secondary color you achieve the tertiary colors. Red-violet Blue-violet Blue-green Yellow-green Yellow-orange Red-orange |
What is a saturated color? | A color on the color wheel; or a color with no white nor black in it |
What colors make up the color wheel? | Red, yellow, blue, green, blue green,yellow green, yellow orange, red orange, violet, blue violet |
What is a tint? | A saturated color mixed with a pure white color |
What is a shade? | A saturated color mixed with a pure black color |
What three colors are considered to be warm colors? | orange, red, yellow |
What three colors are considered to be cool colors | blue, green, violet |
What are the five neutral colors? | Black, Grey, White, Brown,and tan |
What are the six types of color harmonies? | Monochromatic Analogous Complementary Triadic Split Complementary Neutral |
What is a monochromatic color harmony? | achieved by using tints and shades of only one color such as navy blue, blue, baby blue |
What is an analogous color harmony? | by using three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel |
What is a complementary color harmony? | Two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel ex- yellow and violet |
What is a triadic color harmony? | Three colors that are located within equal distance of each other ex- red blue and yellow |
What is a neutral color scheme? | Any combination of Blacks, Grays, Whites, Browns, & Tans |
What is a split complementary scheme? | This is created by using any color and the two colors located next to that colors complement ex- yellow, red-violet, blue- violet |
