endometriosis A condition characterized by endometrial tissue outside of the uterus to other pelvic locations causing pain during menstruation
mastitis inflammation of the breast tissue
Pelvic inflammatory disease PID- inflammation involving some or all of the female reproductive organs usually caused by an STD
premenstrual syndrome PMS- a collection of symptoms, including nervous tissue, irritability, breast pain (mastalgia), edema, and headache.
dilation and curettage D&C- a procedure that is used for both diagnostic and treatment purposes in which a spoon shaped instrument called a curette is used to scrape the inner lining of the uterus
Pap smear diagnostic procedure that screens for precancerous cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer also known as Papanicolaou smear
tubal ligation female sterilization procedure in which the fallopian tubes are severed and closed
hyperemesis gravidarum symptoms of severe nausea and emesis during pregnancy
pseudocyesis a sensation of being pregnant when a pregnancy does not exist
