theme underlying meaning in a literary work
tone attitude an author takes towards his subject, character or reader
mood feeling created in a reader by a literary work
style writers characteristic manner of employing language
allusion reference to mythilogical, literary, or historical person, place, or clause for the purpose of contrast
suspense quality of literature that makes the reader uncertain/tense about the outcome of events
foreshadowing the use of hints or clues in a narrative to suggest future action
flashback a scene that interrupts the action of a work to show a previous event
advice noun; guidance
