What is an ecosystem? Its all nonliving and living things that interact in an area air,water,insects,birds,mammals,etc.
When a rabbit eats grass, what form of energy passes directly from the grass to the rabbit? Chemical
Would a goat or grass be considered a prducer? Grass
What are the Levels Of Organization? Organism-> Population-> Community-> Ecosystem
What is a food chain? Diagram that shows the flow of energy from organism to organism.
What is a food web? Diagram that shows how many food chains are onnected.
What is the 10% rule? In a food pyramid it loses 10% each level going up.
What does a food pyramid start with? Producers.
Competition is... Struggle between organisms to survive in a habitat with limited recourses.
Predation is... Interaction in which one organism hunts and kills another for food.
What is a predetor? An organism that does the hunting; has adaptation to help them catch and kill prey.
Prey is... The hunted animal;has adptations to try and avoid being caught.
Symbiosis is... A close relationship between 2 species that benifts at least one of the species.
What is mutualism? Both species benfit.
What is commensalism? One species benefits and the other is neither helped nor harmed.
What is parasitism? One organism lives in or on onther and harms it.
An example of paraitism is? A flea living on a dog.
A parasite is... The organism that benefits; steals nutrients.
A host is... Organsim the parasite lives on and is harmed.
Is body weight influenced by the environment? Yes.
Plants-> Grasshoppers-> Birds What is the orginal source for all these organisms? The sun.
In what environment is having long hair for rabbits good? A cold environment.
Primary Succession is? An ecosystem having no dirt or soil.
Secondary Succession is? How an ecosystem is after a catestrophic event.
What are some 1st pioneer species? Lichens and mosses.
