How long does it take for the moon to rotate once, and revolve once around the Earth? 27.3 days.
What happens as the moon revolves around the Earth? The amount of sunlight reflected toward Earth by the face of the moon changes.
What happens when the moon is waxing? The sunlit part of the moon that can be seen from Earth appears to get larger. (Right to left)
What happens when the moon is waning? The sunlit part of the moon that can be seen from Earth appears to get smaller. (left to right)
Why don't eclipses happen every month? Because the moon's orbit is tilted, the moon, the sun, and Earth are not aligned every month.
What happens during a lunar eclipse? The Earth comes between the sun and the moon.
What causes the phases of the moon? The Earth's movement, and the moon's orbit.
When does a solar eclipse occur? When the shadow of the moon falls on Earth.
Why does the same side of the moon always face Earth? Because the rate at which the moon rotates on it's axis is the same as the rate at which the moon revolves around Earth.
During an annual eclipse, the moon is at a point in it's orbit that is... Far from Earth.
During an total solar eclipse, the moon is at a point in it's orbit that is... Close to Earth.
What is the Definition of the word corona, and when is it visible? The sun's faint outer atmosphere is only visible during a total solar eclipse.
What is the definition of the word phase? The change in the sunlit area of one celestial body as seen from another body.
What is the definition of the word eclipse? An event in which one celestial body falls on another.
