Decomposers an organism, usually a bacterium or fungus, that breaks down the cells of dead plants and animals into simpler substances.
Ecosystem a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment.

Adaptation the ability of a species to survive in a particular ecological niche, esp. because of alterations of form or behavior brought about through natural selection.
Habitat the natural environment of an organism; place that is natural for the life and growth of an organism: a tropical habitat.
Consumers an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals.
Producers an organism, as a plant, that is able to produce its own food from inorganic substances.
Food Chain the chain from a food source to the ultimate consumer.
Organism a form of life composed of mutually interdependent parts that maintain various vital processes.
Food Web a series of organisms related by predator-prey and consumer-resource interactions; the entirety of interrelated food chains in an ecological community.
