A review of the parts of the grand staff

QuestionAnswer
Leger line A line above or below the staff
Key signature At the beginning of a song; indicates which note is "Do" for that song
Bass clef Also called the F clef, lower half of keyboard
Treble Clef Also called the G clef, higher half of keyboard
Meter Sign Top number=how many beats in a measure; bottom number=what kind of note gets one beat
Measure The space between the bar lines
Bar line Line that separates music into measures
Flat Makes a note one-half step lower or to the left on a keyboard; looks like b
Sharp makes a note one-half step higher or to the right on a keyboard; looks like #
Half step On a keyboard, two keys that are next to each other, no keys in between
Whole step On a keyboard, two keys that have another key in between them
Major scale Pattern of notes that have half steps between Mi-Fa, and Ti-Do, all the rest are whole steps
