Question | Answer |
---|---|
solution | a homogeneous mixture in which all particles of the mixing substances are evenly ditributed throughout. |
solute | the substance being dissolved. |
solvent | the substance that dissolves the solute. |
stirring | a process that helps speed up dissolving b/c it brings fresh solvent into contact w/ more solute. |
grind | to grind large crystals into smaller ones. |
incresing the tempeature | helps speed up the dissolving rate. |
solubility | the maximum number of grams of a substance that will dissolve in 100g of solvent in room temperature |
concentrated solution | one where there is large amount of solute in the solvent. |
diluted solution | one with a small amount of solute in the solvent. |
saturated solution | a solution that has dissolved all the solute it normally can hold at agiven temperature |
unsaturated solution | any solution taht can dissolve more solute at a given temperature. |
supersaturated solution | the solution contains more solute than a saturated one has at that temperature. |
