What does sient barter mean? is a process in which people exhcange goods without ever contactint each other directly.
Who is Tunka Manin? (ruled c. 1068) King of the empire of Ghana, his kingdom was visited by Muslim writters.
Who is Sundiata? (died 1255) Founder of the Empire of Mali, his reign is recorded in legends.
Who is Mansa Musa? (Died c. 1332) Mali's greatest and most famus ruler, he was a devout Muslim. he made a famous pilgrimage to Mecca that helped spread Mali's fame.
Who is Sunni Ali? (died 1492) Emporer of Songhai, he conquered Mali and made Songhai into a powerful state.
Who is Askia the Great? (c. 1443-1538) Songhai ruler, he overthrew Sunni Baru. His reign was the high point of Songhai cultuure.
What is an oral history? An oral history is a spoken record of past events.
What are griots? West African storytellers.
What are proverbs? or short sayings of wisdom or truth.
What is a kente? Kente is a hand-woven, brightly colored fabric.
