TermDefinition
Set collection of objects grouped in some way
Point may be represented as a dot; it has no dimensions; it has no size; it only shows position
Line a line may be treated as a set of points either curved or straight; a straight line may be considered an infinite set of points extending indefnitely in 2 opposite directions; a line has no endpoints, no width, no length
Straight Line a straight line may be considered an infinite set of points extending indefnitely in 2 opposite directions; a line has no endpoints, no width, no length; it may represented in 2 ways - Naming 2 points on it (use capital letters), or use a small letter
Plane may be considered as a set of points forming a completely flat surface extending indefinitely in all directions; a plane has no thickness; it may be represneted by a capital letter. "Plane P
Number Line a straight line each of whose points can be associated with a real number
DIstance between 2 Points on the real number line is the absolute value of the difference of the coordinates os the two points
Collinear Set of Points a set of points all of which lie on the same straight line
Betweeness of Points on a Line If A, B, and C are collinear points, such that AB+BC=AC, then B is between A and C
Line Segment a line segment or segment is a set of points on a line called endpoints, and the set of all points on the line bewteen the end points
Half Line the set of all the points in a line on the same side of a dividing point, not including the dividing point
Ray is the set of all point in a half line including the dividing point which is called the Endpoint of the Ray
Length of a Line Segment is the distance between its endpoints
Congruent segments are segments that have the same length
Midpoint of a Line Segment is the point of that line segment that divides the segment into two congruent segments
Segment is Bisected at a Point if the point is the midpoint of the line segment
Bisector of a line segment divides the segment into 2 congruent segments
Angle is a set of points which is the union of 2 rays having the same ednpoint
Straight Angle if the two rays that form an agle are opposite rays, the angle is a straight angle
Right Angle is an angle whose measure is 90 degrees
Straight angle is an angle whose meaures is 180 degrees
Acute angle is an angle whose measure is between 0 and 90 degrees
Obtuse angle an angle whose measure is bewteen 90 and 180 degrees
Reflex Angle is an angle whose measure is between 180 and 360 degrees
Congruent angles are angles which have the same measure
Angle bisector divides an angle into two congruent angles
Adjacent angles are two angles in the same plane which have a common vertex, a common side, but do not have any interior points in common
Vertical angles are two angles which have a common vertex and whose sides are two pairs of opposite rays
Complementary angles are two angles the sum of whose measures is 90 degrees
Supplementary angles are two angles the sum of whose measures is 180 degrees
Linear Pair 2 abgles with a common side and whose non-common sides are a pair of opposte rays
Perpiindicular Lines 2 lines which intersect and form right angles
Perpindicular Bisector of a line segment a line, line segment or a ray which is perpendicular to the line segment and bisects the line segment
Polygon a closed figure us a plane which is the union of line segments
Triangle a polygon that has 3 sides
Scalene Triangle triangle with no congruent sides
Isosceles Triangle a triangle with 2 congruent sides
Equilateral Triangle a triangle with 3 congruent sides
Acute Triangle a triangle with 3 acute angles
Equiangular Triangle a triangle with 3 congruent angles
Right triangle a triangle that has a right angle
Obtuse triangle a triangle that has a obtuse angle
Altitude of a Triangle a line segment drawn from any vertex of the triangle, perpendicular to and ending in the opposite side
Median of a Triangle bisects the side to which it is drawn
Angle Bisector divides an angle into 2 congruent angles

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
