Why did Ancient Rome use a census? men had to report their families, wives, slaves, and wealth
Why did Germany use a census? the gov used it to target Jewish people, catholics, and gypsies
How often is the US census taken? every 10 years
what are the US territories? the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.
what can the census tell us? how many children are in each family, their ages, where they go to school, if and where people move and how long they live their, types of homes they live in, if they own or rent their home, and the rate of population growth in the US.
how much of an undertaking is the census? short of going to war, it is the government's biggest undertaking
