how do you perceive white? white light is broken in a prism that has 7 different hues; red orange yellow green blue indigo and violet
how do you perceive black? black light occurs when all wavelengths are reflected back to you eye
what is hue? hue refers to the color itself ...each different hue is a different reflected wavelength of light.
what are the primary colors? red yellow and blue
what are the secondary colors? orange green and purple
what are tertiary colors? red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange, red-orange
what is saturated color? the colors used on the color wheel because they have no white or black added to them
what 3 groups make up the color wheel? primary colors, secondary colors, and tertiary colors.
what is a tint? a saturated color that is mixed with pure white.
what is a shade? a saturated color that is mixed with pure black
what are the 3 colors that are considered the warm colors? red orange and yellow
what are the 3 colors that are considered the cool colors? blue green and violet
what are the 5 neutral colors? black gray white brown and tan
what are the 6 types of color harmonies? monochromatic, analogous, complementary, triadic, split complementary, and neutral
what is a monochromatic color harmony? using tints and shades of one color
what is an analogous color harmony? using 3 or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
what is a complementary color harmony? using 2 colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel.
what is a triadic color harmony? using 3 colors that are located within equal distances from each other on the color wheel.
what is a split complementary color harmony? using any color and the 2 colors located next to that colors complement on the color wheel.
what is a neutral color harmony? any combination of black gray white brown and tan
