Modifiers Used to help explain a procedure code
Etiology The cause of a disorder
Credit An entry on the account that equals more money in the account. Can be a payment from a patient or from an insurance.
Debt An entry on an account that means the addition of an expense or a deduction
Debit Card A card that looks like a credit card that lets you withdraws money from your account to pay for what you buy.
Disbursement Funds (money)paid out.
Fee Schedule A list of the cost of different procedures in the clinic
Bundled Code Represents 2 or more procedures into one procedure code.
Guarantor The person that promises to pay the bill. (Doesn't have to be the patient)
Medically Indigent When people are able to take care of ordinary living expenses but cannot afford medical expenses
Payables Amount owed to other
Pegboard Also called the write it once system. A method of keeping track of accounts.
Posting Transferring or carrying from a book or original entry to a ledger. Entering figures in an accounting system.
New Patient New to the practice or not seein in the group within the last 3 years.
Professional Courtesy Charging other professionals (doctors and their family) less or maybe nothing for service
Receipts Amount paid on patient accounts
Receivables Total monies received on accounts
Third Party Payer Someone other than the patient, spouse or paretn who is responsible to pay all or part of the medical expensed incurred.
Transaction An exchange or transfer of goods, services or funds.
Electronic Claims Claims submitted to insurance processing facilities using a computerized direct data entry, direct wire, or personal computer download.
Celexa Antidepressant: GENERIC-Citalopram hydrobromide: The treatment of depression
Zestoretic ACE Inhibitor: GENERIC-Lisinopril and hyfrochlorothiazie: ACE inhibitor + a diuretic, used to treat blood pressure
Paxil CR Anti-depressant: GENERIC-Paroxetine hydrochloride: to treat depression and anxiety disorders
Zetril ACE Inhibitor: GENERIC-Lisinopril: Used to lower blood pressure
Accolate Anti-Asthmatic: GENERIC-Zafirlukast: Treatment of asthma in adults and childern 5 years or older.
