What small molecule is lost in a dehydration reaction? A water molecule
When two molecules covalently bond to each other through the loss of a water molecule, it is called what? Condensation reaction
Polymers are disesmabled into monomers by what reaction? Hydrolysis
What is the simplest form of a carbohydrate? Monosaccharides
What is maltose also known as? Malt sugar
What are 2 things polysaccharides are used for? Storgae and stability (structure)
What is cellulose used for? buildng plant cell walls
What are three examples of lipids? Fats, phospholipids, and steroids
What does an unsaturated fat look like? It looks "bent" because of one missing hydrogen
What does a phospholipid bilayer look like? Its has two(bi-)layers of phospholipids with glycerol heads facing out and tails facing in.
What part of a phospholipid is hydrophilic? The "head"
What part of a phospholipid is hydrophobic? The "tails"
